About Us

I chose Shabani as it was the name of a town in Rhodesia, in the heart of lion country, the Ridgebacks homeland. It seemed like a fitting name for a Rhodesian Ridgeback Kennel.

Shabani is dedicated to breeding happy, healthy, sound Rhodesian Ridgebacks that conform to the Rhodesian Ridgeback Breed Standard. I spend most of my time showing, lure coursing and enjoying my dogs as part of the family.

I started with my first Ridgeback in 1992 but it wasn’t until my third Ridgeback, Penzi, that I really got involved with showing and breeding Ridgebacks around 1996. Penzi is my foundation bitch and I have gone forward with her trying to improve upon what I started with and breed sound, happy dogs that meet the Rhodesian Ridgeback standard.

I am a member in good standing with The Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States (RRCUS) and past President of the New England Rhodesian Ridgeback Club.
